THE STORY OF FERN & FLAME CO.
Small Batch, Hand Poured, 100% American Soy, Phthalate Free Fragrance
My name is Shannon Leary and I have always loved candles and home fragrance; one day I decided to see ‘what’s really in the candle I bought?’. I was shocked and knew right then that I wanted an option that wouldn’t jeopardize my family’s health while burning it. I started researching how I could create a more eco-friendly product that has an amazing fragrance but doesn’t produce the soot and chemical release that occurs when burning some of the other candles on the market. After many months of research and experimenting, Fern & Flame Co. was born.
I take pride in hand-pouring small-batch, high quality candles and wax melts using 100% organic AMERICAN soy wax, phthalate-free fragrance infused with essential oils, braided cotton wicks and recyclable glass jars with biodegradable labels. All components you can feel good about! My passion for excellence has driven me from the beginning and continues to drive Fern & Flame Co. into the future. I know that every product counts, and strive to make the entire home fragrance experience as rewarding and as green as possible. Check it out for yourself!

About Our Products
A little about your soy product~
Soy is a natural and renewable product, unlike paraffin wax, a by-product of oil refining,
which you will find in most of your big box store bought candles. Soy wax is a vegetable wax
made from the oil of soybeans. After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-
hulled, and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated.
The hydrogenation process converts some of the fatty acids in the oil from unsaturated
to saturated. This process dramatically alters the melting point of the oil, making it a
solid at room temperature. The leftover bean husks are commonly used as animal feed.
The U.S. grows the vast majority of the world's soybeans, primarily in Illinois, Iowa, and Indiana.
Soy's greatest advantage is that it is completely renewable and non-toxic.
It is completely normal, as soy wax cures, for the wax to pull away from the sides and
create spot that look "wet" and for it to look pitted after it has been burned and then
blown out. Seeing this in your candle is an indicator that your wax product is, in fact,
100% Soy wax and not blended with something else. This will not affect the candle or it's performance.
All of our fragrances are phthalate free!
This means no carcinogens to breathe in from the fragrance!
